Gospel Jazz artist, Roland Gresham is a native of Nashville, Tennessee. He started playing guitar at the age of six. Other than being taught to play a few basic chords by his father, who also plays guitar, Roland has had no formal training, and he does not read music. During his early teen years, Roland began playing in some of the local clubs throughout the Nashville area. After only a few performances, this young musician was unhappy with the club scene. At the age of 15, he gave his heart to Jesus and turned away from playing in bars and nightclubs.
Roland went on to become a licensed electrician. Even though he worked his profession for 10 years, music continued to play an important part in his life. He found himself playing at local churches on weekends. As his popularity increased, so did his engagements. He began
traveling across the United States. In 1988, he devoted his full time to music. He has since traveled throughout North America, Bermuda, and the Caribbean. He performs in small storefront churches, and before large overflowing crowds. He has performed on recordings and in concert with such artists as Richard Smallwood, Daryl Coley, Take 6, Dottie Peoples, Helen Baylor, Bobby Jones, and others.
Roland plays music that touches the soul. His most recent recordings demonstrate his versatility and range. His release, Special Music, is a compilation of spirituals and traditional favorites, and blends the sounds of Jazz and Blues. The Best Of Roland, not only illustrates his special blend of contemporary and inspirational, it also demonstrates his writing ability. Four of the tunes are originals, written by Roland.
To date, more than 350,000 copies of his music have been sold, as more and more people are hearing about the gift of music that God has placed in the hands of gospel jazz guitar soloist, Roland Gresham.
Roland travels almost every weekend seeking opportunities to share his music ministry. Roland asks for your prayers as he continues to praise God and minister throughout the world with God's gift of music.
